Question Time:

A Question Time form can be downloaded from Council’s website and copies of the form are available in the Council Chamber prior to the start of the meeting.

7.2       Notice of Motion 853 - Belmont and Betula Intersection

Councillor Alahna Desiato of South East Ward has given notice that it is her intention to move the following Motion at the Ordinary Meeting of Council to be held on Tuesday 6 March 2018 at 6:30pm:

 

MOtion

THAT Council resolve to:

1.   Implement a left in/left out arrangement at the Belmont Way and Betula Avenue intersection to improve road safety on a trial basis; and

2.   Following the completion of the residential development at 328 - 338 McKimmies Road, Mill Park, analyse the road safety outcomes of this arrangement by assessing speed reduction and accident frequency, and provide a report to Council.

7.3       Notice of Motion 854 - To prohibit further Gum Trees being planted on residential Nature Strips

Councillor Alahna Desiato of South East Ward has given notice that it is her intention to move the following Motion at the Ordinary Meeting of Council to be held on Tuesday 6 March 2018 at 6:30pm:

 

Preamble: The intention of this resolution is to prohibit any further planting of gum trees on residential nature strips because Council continuously receives complaints and petitions from residents requesting these trees to be removed.

MOtion

THAT Council resolve to:

1.   Prohibit developers from planting gum trees in residential streets of new estates.

2.   Not plant gum trees where there is a whole of street change as part of Council’s Street Tree Renewal Program.

3.   Provide residents with an option to select a species that is not a gum tree, where infill planting is required, or single trees need to be replaced, in a street where there is an existing predominance of gum species as the street tree.

4.   Update the Street Tree Management Plan 2016 to note that the above and remove Eucalyptus, Corymbia and Angophora species from the Whittlesea species list included in Appendix One of the Plan.
